The Nigeria Football Federation has claimed that the coach
of the Super Falcons Kadiri Ikhana was given all he needed to succeed at the
2012 African Women’s Championship hosted by Equatorial Guinea.President of the NFF Aminu Maigari said the federation ensured Falcons succeed by playing their parts, but was surprised that the team finished fourth, the worst ever for the Nigerian side.
Falcons failed to beat Cameroon on Sunday after Gaelle Enganamouit scored a first half goal to help Cameroon to a third place finish, consequently finishing behind host and winners Equatorial Guinea, South African.
It is the worst performance for the Nigerians since the competition started, and most people back home have already started calling for the sack of head coach Kadiri Ikhana.
The team are expected back in the country today.
