Salami talks about his nickname

Warri Wolves striker Gbolahan Salami explained why in his opinion he is beeing referred to as Nigerian Balotelli and why he has the opinion of a bad boy.

Salami is currently Glo Premier League top goalscorer jointly with Nnamso Edo from Akwa United. In the past he was involuved in numerous incidents. In Shooting Stars he was fined for not showing up to a training session. Yet striker himself is not concerned about this opinion and accepts it. He explains that he is not a bad boy and was never considered to be one in his private life. Salami thinks that people call him Balotelli, because he simply expects for others to honour their obligations towards him, especially financial ones. "I am not really a bad boy but I know why they call me Nigerian Baloteli. If I agree with a team to give me a particular amount, I expect that team to honour their own side of the bargain why I do my own on the field of play." The truth is that I hate deceit and I don't want anybody to deceive me. In Nigeria, once you demand for your right, they tag you Baloteli and if they call me that name because I demand for my right, so be it.” - said Salami quoted by sl10.ng.
