Gerrard cleared to play on Wednesday

  • England captain Steven Gerrard has been cleared to travel with the rest of Roy Hodgson's squad to Sweden for Wednesday's friendly after undergoing a precautionary scan on a knee injury suffered in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

    If Gerrard plays in Stockholm he will become the sixth Englishman to reach get 100 caps for English.
    It will allow the 32-year-old to join Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright in the pantheon of great players to win 100 caps for England.

     England teammate Leon Osman said it will be a "fantastic" honor for Gerrard to join that select group.
    "It is fantastic to get to 100 caps, the Everton midfielder said. -There is only a select band that has managed to do it and Steven deserves to be in that crew. He is a fantastic player and a leader of men". He opined.
