Angry South Africans stoned the bus carrying the Zambia national
team after Chipolopolo defeated the Bayana Bayana of South Africa
Zambian
duo Kennedy Mweene and Felix Katongo were left injured after their team bus
was stoned following their 1-0 win over Bafana Bafana in the Mandela
Challenge.
Football Association of Zambia
released an image of Mweene being checked for injuries in what FAZ have
described the incident as “shameful” on the part of the culprits.
The
bus was attacked as the team left FNB Stadium for the hotel, the
windows were shattered which resulted in injuries to Mweene and Felix
Katongo.
SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani has
since apologized to the Zambia team for the incident.
